The salary range for this position is:
Recruitment range: $52,886 – $59,527 starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.
Performance range: starting salary to max of $69,132 is available through annual performance increases.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Director, Strategic Initiatives and Projects, the Project Officer is part of a project team to support cross-institutional initiatives at UVic. Cross-institutional initiatives are part of our commitment to ensuring that our administrative systems and processes are as efficient and effective as possible to enable those who access those systems and processes to focus on their contribution to the academic mission of the university.
This role will work with stakeholders across the university to address risks around the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of electronic information resources in decentralized IT areas at UVic. The project is led by the Associate Vice-President University Systems & CIO, and Associate Vice-President Academic Planning, and includes a team of deans, directors, and IT staff from across campus.
This position will support the inventorying of assets and systems, create and update documentation relating to the audit recommendations, and support the Steering Committee and Director, Strategic Initiatives and Projects to manage change and project objectives.
Job Requirements
This position requires an undergraduate degree and a minimum of 1 year of experience in business administration, business analysis, public administration, finance, project management, asset management, computer science, engineering, information technology, or another relevant discipline.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Knowledge requirements include:
Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Mac/Apple computing environments
Project management best practices

Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills
Proven track record achieving project goals on time and produce deliverables of a high quality
Demonstrated ability to work both collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently;

Demonstrated diplomacy, tact and patience when working with faculty, and staff who have varied levels of computer experience;
General knowledge of Project Management best practices;
Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with all stakeholders, at all levels of the organization;
Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
Assets include:
Experience working in a post-secondary education environment or comparable size/complex organization
Knowledge and experience with other operating systems such as Linux or Unix based systems
Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy management in a managed desktop environment;
Knowledge of a large variety of software programs including Microsoft Exchange email and calendaring, Microsoft Office and SharePoint, statistical, and database applications;
