Broadview Village has 40+ years of experience providing outstanding support to adults with developmental disabilities, dual diagnosis, and mental health challenges. With a $15.5 million budget (used to provide residential supports to over 75 people and day programs to support over 400 people) a corporate culture predicated on the principles of servant leadership, and a new 4-year labour agreement with its biggest union, Broadview Village is poised to move into the next few years as a leader in the field of developmental services.
You can be part of this team. Broadview Village is currently hiring 1 Full-Time Temporary Residential Manager. Reporting to the Senior Manager, the Residential Manager position requires someone with a passion to inspire a team of Residential Counsellors to excel. Each residence serves 2-10 full-time, 24/7 residents with developmental disabilities.

The Residential Manager provides support to the employees and residents within established policies and procedures including: Employment Standards, Collective Agreements, payroll procedures, Salvation Army Accreditation, and Services and Supports to Promote the Social Inclusion of Persons with Developmental Disabilities Act, 2008 (SIPDDA).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Hiring, training, supervising and supporting a team of highly skilled Residential Counsellors
- Creating a community-oriented environment, one that welcomes staff, residents and their families to collaborate to provide the highest standard of care
- Overseeing annual individual support planning and monthly program reviews in
partnership with residents and families, front-line workers and other key
stakeholders such as OT’s, Behavioural Therapists, etc. - Creating & assessing progress of resident Behaviour Support Plans in conjunction
with Behavioural Therapists - Providing weekday, weekend and evening on-call support on a rotational basis
- Supporting prime workers in planning of appropriate resident vacations & community outings
- Ensuring health and safety policies and procedures are observed within the residence
- Budgeting and overseeing staff schedules and absences
- The above responsibilities are to be discharged in accordance with The Salvation
Army’s Mission Statement and in a professional manner
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Development Service Workers diploma or equivalent post-secondary education
- Valid Standard First Aid Certificate with CPR, Level C
- Valid and current Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Certificate
Experience:
- Minimum 1-3 years’ previous leadership experience required, preferably in a nonprofit agency environment with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in developmental services
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Ability to work in a skilled and compassionate manner with people who have developmental disabilities and their families
- Strong documentation, administrative and organizational skills with a working understanding of MCCSS compliance & agency accreditation requirements
- Passion for and ability to successfully advocate for needs of both staff and residents
- Established ability to consistently demonstrate a common sense approach to creative problem-solving
- A strong capability to build relationships and lead change initiatives, supporting both the team and residents through the change cycle
- Strategic thinking both in people leadership as well as resource management
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:
- French language fluency would be an asset
Successful candidate will be required to provide upon hiring:
- A clear vulnerable sector screening
- Participate in our online Armatus Abuse Training and Health and Safety training required upon hiring, as well as updated annually
HOURS: Generally, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week (some flexibility in hours and days required as there will be some evening and weekend work)
