KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Service Responsibilities:
- The incumbent reports to the Maxwell Meighen Assistant Director. This is a non-unionized management position that assists in the managing the day to day operations of the Maxwell Meighen Centre
- The Hostel/Residential Supervisor will provide leadership, supervision and day-to-day- direction to a compliment of Intake Workers and Dining Room Attendants in accordance with established policies and procedures including the Collective Agreement, Employment Standards and payroll procedures while maintaining the integrity of service delivery and administrative expectations
- Duties will include; prepare shift schedules and attend to staff leaves and vacation requests as well as conduct supervision meetings with individual staff members, keep updated record of sick, vacation, lieu and stat days, hold annual performance evaluations and participate in policy reviews and revisions. Communicate with staff on matters of discipline in accordance with the Policy & Procedure manual
- Ensure clients receive proper customer service; deal with client issues, concerns and complaints; read daily log books and make necessary follow-up; review all incident reports, make any follow-up and ensure necessary notations are needed and assist in preparing daily, weekly and monthly reports for the department. Perform other duties as required by the Assistant Director and/or the Director of Hostel Services or designate
- To provide support, assistance, and encouragement to Clients
Organizational Responsibilities
- Attend all authorized Seminars, Staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- Adhere to standards that are consistent with the values and philosophy of the Salvation Army and the Maxwell Meighen Centre
- Read and follow the policy and procedures of the Maxwell Meighen Centre and adhere to the Shelter Standards when dealing with the client, residents, and staff
- Make suggestions that will improve efficiency, working conditions or procedures of the department and the centre

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Certifications:
- Post-Secondary Diploma in Social Work, Addictions, Counselling, or related field(s)
- Certification in First Aid/CPR, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years related work experience
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Good interpersonal skills
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Good Computer Skills with working knowledge of Windows
- Good Clerical Skills
- Ability to function as a team member
- Second language an asset
Successful candidate will be required to provide upon hiring:
- A clear vulnerable sector screening
- Participate in our online Armatus Abuse Training and Health and Safety training required upon hiring, as well as updated annually
HOURS: 40 hours per week
