Description
Within the context and mission of the Salvation Army Scarborough Citadel, work cooperatively with the Community and Family Services (CFS) Coordinator, CFS worker, volunteers, and other church staff. The CFS office primarily provides a source of physical help through our Food Bank but is a contact point for meeting holistic needs of our clients using the Pathway of Hope initiative as a means of helping those wishing to change their life circumstance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in organization of food delivery and stocking of pantry
- Organize client food bank appointments
- Ensure accurate information is entered into Link2Feed system
- Accurately record statistics
- Assess client needs and respond appropriately
- Refer clients for spiritual care, Pathway of Hope, or to outside agencies as needed
- Assist in planning and implementation of initiatives that match clients’ needs
- Provide food and/or Thrift Store vouchers as per guidelines
- Maintain confidentiality in all matters pertaining to clients and The Salvation Army
- Perform other duties as required by supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program and the following represents the applicant criteria:
- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment*
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
- Minimum 20 years of age
- Currently enrolled in or have completed a college diploma in a related program
- Problem solving, communication and organizational skills
- Attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills
- Self-motivated and disciplined
- Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality
- Demonstrate proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office applications
- Able to lift 30 lbs.
PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:
- Possess a current first aid/CPR certificate an asset
Successful candidate will be required to provide upon hiring:
- A clear vulnerable sector screening
- A clear internal abuse registry check
- A clean drivers abstract
- Participate in our online Armatus Abuse Training and Health and Safety training required upon hiring
30 hours a week. (maximum 270 hrs. over a 9-week period)
