Description
The Thrift Store Clerk contributes to meeting store sales budgets by providing qualified courteous and attentive customer service to patrons, while participating in the overall mission of The Salvation Army.
DAYS and HOURS of work: Expected to work weekdays and Saturdays. Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday then off the next week. Hours Monday to Wednesday and Saturday are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and some Thursday & Fridays will be 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sorting, pricing and displaying donations
- Operating cash register
- Process money and Interact payments
- Customer service
- General cleaning
- Sales associate, in a team setting
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Certifications:
- Completion of Public School (alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable)
Experience:
- Up to three months of prior related experience including, experience with warehouse processing or goods distribution and knowledge of lifting guideline are an asset.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Customer friendly/people skills
- Able to efficiently run cash register and interact machine
- Able to lift 40 pounds
- Able to tolerate dust
Able to work together with others in respectful manner
Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:
- Background check consent
- A clear vulnerable sector screening
- A clean drivers abstract
- Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training
