Description
Thrift Store Shift Supervisor assists the Store Manager during assigned shifts by coordinating the activities of the store including, opening/closing, daily reporting, authorizing payment and return merchandise.
HOURS:
- Part-Time, Permanent, 24 hours per week.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Resolves problems as they arise and provide ongoing training and monitoring of staff.
- Provides excellent service to guests and fulfills various sales and production roles within the store.
- Maintains high standards in sales, merchandising, marketing, displays, promotions, guest service and public relations.
- Guides the staff & volunteers regarding pricing, sorting procedures, product display and promotion.
- Contributes to meeting store sales budgets by maintaining customer service standards.
- Implements store layout plans to attract customers including window displays and merchandise displays.
- Ensures attractiveness of the store through “Tidy Maintenance”.
- Replenishes inventory levels based on Manager’s directions.
- Contributes to the control of inventory by retrieving, sorting, and pricing as per directions.
- Protects the store from inventory shrinkage by close visual monitoring.
- Contributes to the safety of staff and customers (e.g. snow removal, clear fire exits, no obstacles inside/outside store, cleans spillage and maintains store cleanliness).
- Takes responsibility for the accurate completion of all customer transactions including visa, debit, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Certifications:
- The successful job applicant will have completed High School with 2-5 years of retail experience.
Experience:
- 2-5 years retail experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate comfortably with customers.
- Results-driven with superior time management skills and ability to delegate effectively.
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures.
- Strong written and oral communication skills thrive on building relationships.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, internet, and familiar with basic office equipment.
- Ability to multitask.
- Ability to lift and/or move to 40 pounds.
- Ability to operate computerized till.
- Punctuality, reliability, trustworthiness.
- Awareness of health and safety procedures and proper lifting techniques.
Preferred Skills/Capabilities:
- Continuously standing for long periods of time, frequent twisting, bending, crouching, reaching, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling, kneeling and visual monitoring.
- Frequently working with numbers.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work under pressure.
