Description
The Thrift Store Supervisor provides oversight of the operations of the Thrift Store in conjunction with Policy and Procedures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Daily contact with clients, staff, customers, general public, etc.
- Recruit and train volunteers
- Provide orientation for all volunteers, including work placements and corrections placements
- Log and submit all volunteer hours and placement hours
- When required, evaluate volunteers and placement workers and submit accordingly
- Ensure smooth running of store keeping donations sorted and prepared for display and endeavoring to keep clothing and other items moving as quickly as possible (i.e., through special sale days, etc.)
- Keep regular contact with other businesses and the general public who make donations to the store.
- Perform staff PEAC evaluations annually and meet with staff regularly as is the guidelines of the PEAC
- Responsible for the scheduling of staff, recording hours and submitting to Officer
- Responsible for UltiPro time entries for staff
- Follow the guidelines for sales and execute the scheduled Sale days
- Maintain a tidy, organized store and workspace
- Ensure the rotation of stock is done in a timely and efficient manner to ensure that stock is fresh and organized.
- Ensure all health and safety procedures are in place and followed.
- Responsible for the completion of all forms necessary in the operation of the store such as, WCB forms, Incident Reports.
- Ensure everyone works together as a team to serve the community in a pleasant and efficient manner that is a positive representation of The Salvation Army and its mission.
- Handle all complaints and store concerns in a pleasant manner and provide a resolution that addresses the customers’ / clients’ concerns but meets with the store policies and procedures.
- Provide customers / clients with a store ban when necessary in situations where theft or harassment has occurred. These letters must be approved by a supervisor and /or Corps Officer.
- Responsible for monitoring the store for theft
- Ensure all stock is priced appropriately and Production Logs are completed daily
- Provide staff with proper documents for end of day deposits.
- Train all staff in the end of day process and ensure the balancing of cash.
- Complete cash deposits at least twice a week and bring deposits to the bank.
- Open & closing of the store and ensure that all shifts are covered.
- Ensure the recording of all donations received in assigned log
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL ATTAINED:
The successful job applicant will have completed High School.
NOTE: An alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable.
MINIMUM PRIOR RELATED EXPERIENCE:
The incumbent must have the following experience before hire:
Up to three months of prior related experience.
PHYSICAL EFFORT/DEXTERITY REQUIRED:
The performance of the job requires continuously standing for long periods of time, frequent twisting, bending, crouching, reaching, reaching overhead, pushing and pulling, lifting, kneeling and entering data for transactions.
CONCENTRATION REQUIRED:
The performance of the job requires visual monitoring and frequently working with numbers.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Part time hours: 20 hours per week (5 hours per day Tuesday – Friday)
