Position Purpose
This role translates Infoway documents, primarily from English to French and occasionally from French to English, in a timely, consistent and high-quality manner, according to the terminology used and the Infoway brand; and participates in SNOMED CT terminology work in accordance with defined editorial and linguistic rules.
Responsibilities
Translates into French material provided in English in a timely, consistent and high-quality manner, e.g. marketing material (ads, posters, videos), newsletters, web pages, intranet pages, PPT presentations, social media messages, human resources documents, surveys, etc.
Translates into English material provided in French in a timely, consistent and high-quality manner, e.g. PPT presentations, PrescribeIT material, etc.
Carries out the required terminology research and translates according to the translation best practices
Uses the translation memory system as a translation aid tool.
Performs terminology work for the SNOMED CT international standard.
Translates and validates the requested terms of the SNOMED CT standard in accordance with established editorial and linguistic rules.
Performs the required research in the SNOMED CT terminology tool as well as in specific databases and reference sites.
Adds to the rules, if necessary.
Participates in collaborative meetings of SNOMED CT’s French international group.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in translation preferred. (Other diploma in translation, combined with considerable experience also acceptable)
Member of the OTTIAQ an asset l
Subject Matter/ Functional/ Technical Expertise
Minimum of 7 years of translation experience, ideally in the fields of health, administration and information technology
Knowledge of advertising translation an asset
Knowledge of MultiTrans or other translation assistance tools
Excellent terminology research skills and good knowledge of major research sites and terminology databases
Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office
Other Experience /Requirements
Bilingualism (French and English) is required
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
Experience in terminology an asset
