This is skilled, routine truck driving work in operating vehicles of 24,000 pounds and under which also entails supervising the work of one or more subordinates. Work is reviewed by a supervisor in terms of safe and efficient vehicle operation and provision of parks maintenance and construction services. The Truck Driver Parks – Lead Hand loads, transports and unloads materials, staff, tools, equipment and supplies; operates truck and attachments to plow snow, salt and sand roads, as required. Prepares and maintains simple records and reports related to the work. Cleans, checks and performs light servicing work on vehicle. Supplies information and handles minor complaints from the public on matters related to the work. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include completion of the 12th school grade supplemented by truck driving experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Thorough knowledge of the rules of safe operation and of the precautions necessary to avoid accidents in driving a truck and attached or auxiliary equipment. Considerable knowledge of rules and regulations governing the work performed; of municipal streets and traffic routes. Ability to assign, review and supervise the work of subordinates and to provide training; to provide information and explain applicable rules and regulations to the public; to follow work schedules and to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Skill in the operation of a truck under difficult driving conditions and of equipment used on the job. Mechanical aptitude. Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia is required.
This position is temporary full time until October 29, 2021.
Work Schedule: Thursday to Monday 2:00PM – 10:30PM
