Description
The Warehouse Worker works under the direction of the Thrift Store Manager to provide exceptional customer service, merchandising, tidy maintenance of the warehouse, sorting donations and creating a positive work environment.
The Truck Driver picks up donated goods from the homes of donors and grocery stores. These donations range from boxed goods, furniture, groceries, dairy products and other items. The Truck Driver decides what items we can take, and is the operator of our 3-ton cube truck.
Hours:
- 32 hours per week, Monday-Saturday.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contributes to meeting store sales budgets by maintaining customer service standards
- Implements store layout plans to attract customers including end caps and merchandise displays; ensure the attractiveness of the store through “Tidy Maintenance”
- Replenishes inventory levels based on Manager’s/Supervisor directions and sorting of donations
- Contributes to the control of inventory by retrieving, sorting, and pricing as per directions; protects the store from inventory losses by close visual monitoring
- Contributes to the safety of staff and customers (e.g. snow removal, clear fire exits, no obstacles inside / outside store, cleans spillage and maintains store cleanliness)
- Performing safety inspections on the 3 ton cube van daily (pre-trip forms)
- Scheduling and performing pickups of donated goods from donors homes and/or Grocery Stores
- Using good judgment about what goods to accept
- Drive the 3 ton cube van
- Keep the interior and exterior of the 3 ton cube van clean and tidy
- Monitor the fuel in the 3 ton cube van and fill it as necessary
- Assist thrift store staff with moving furniture and unloading the truck of donations and groceries
- Properly recycling the donations that are not suitable for resale and utilizing the RDEK recycling depot
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- The successful job applicant will have completed High School.
- NOTE: An alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable.
Experience:
- More than three months of prior related experience.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- The incumbent is required to lift more than 50 pounds.
- Flexibility and motivation to work within a team.
- Able to work in a fast paced environment.
- CSA approved steel toed work boots
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:
- WHMIS
- Standard First Aid
Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:
