Teacher for E.G. Wahlstrom School
This is a full time probationary position commencing August 24, 2021.
E.G. Wahlstrom School is located in the town of Slave Lake in northern Alberta, in the Municipal District of Lesser Slave River. It is located 257 km north of Edmonton on the southeast shore of Lesser Slave Lake at the junction of Highway 2 and Highway 88.
E.G. Wahlstrom is a Grade 4 to 6 school with an enrollment of approximately 355 students and 33 staff. We are committed to ensuring welcoming, caring, respectful and safe learning environments that respect diversity and nurture a sense of belonging and a positive sense of self. We are dedicated to building relationships, spreading kindness, promotion passion and enjoyment of learning. Within our school we provide support services to all students through learning supports in the areas of literacy and math in addition to transitioning and counselling services.
High Prairie School Division provides many supports for their employees. We employ a full time mentor coach who supports all new teachers to the Division with an Orientation program and on-site mentoring. The Professional Development opportunities are supported in many forms and all employees have many supports that allow them to grow and improve in their professional practice.
Requirements:
Candidates must have completed a Bachelor of Education Degree.
Successful candidates must produce an ORIGINAL, acceptable, recent (less than six months old) Criminal Record Check which must include Vulnerable Sector Check.
Alberta Teaching Certificate or proof of application from Alberta Education.
TQS or proof of application from the Alberta Teachers’ Association.
