        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

JOB PURPOSE: To provide aid, plan, facilitate and coordinate Life Skills Programs for the TSA  Community and Family Services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

CHARACTERISTIC JOB DUTIES:

  • Work with local community organizations and groups to develop life skill programming that includes, but is not limited to: financial literacy, employment skills, hygiene, family/relationships, health, food literacy, drug awareness, mental wellness, educational planning, tenant’s rights etc.  Acting as a liaison between outside Agencies and The Salvation Army
  • Work alongside CFS Coordinator in developing a roster of events that will engage and appeal to clients
  • Assist CFS Coordinator in planning and facilitating all in-house programs
  • Participate in program development, policies and procedure formulation, program evaluation and budget adherence.
  • Assist the other team members as well as volunteers in providing orientation, training, work direction and guidance
  • Work in collaboration with the CFS Coordinator to develop and build relationships with other like-minded agencies in the community
  • Network within the homelessness service community to raise awareness of The Salvation Army programming and build collaboration opportunities
  • Drafting and preparing advertising – for Community Ministries
  • Maintain confidentiality and keep accurate client files and statistical records
  • Assist clients with effective problem solving and budgeting assistance
  • Assist clients with various application forms and other assistance where needed
  • Work alongside CFS Coordinator and CFS Worker in organizing seasonal or special programs (income tax preparation, Summer Camps, Toy drives, Lunch programs etc.)
  • Continue the ongoing networks with government, social service providers, schools and community organizations to co-ordinate resources for the benefit of the client
  • Work closely with all staff to adjust programming according to current needs
  • Provide Corps Officers with weekly reports on current activities.
  • On occasion, assist when needed, with Christmas food hampers Toy packing and distribution.
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing life at the margins

  • Knowledge of drug and alcohol misuse, mental health and behavioural issues
  • Understanding/sensitivity to various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds of the clients

  • Adhere to TSA Policy and Procedures while in the workplace and during activities off site
  • Serves actively as a team member for the Church/Center
  • Ensures the Gospel of Jesus Christ is exemplified in the performance of all job responsibilities and through personal example
  • Prays with and shares the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with clients, staff and volunteers, endeavoring to assimilate them into the Body of Christ, as appropriate (including linking clients to the church family and church programs where possible)

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL ATTAINED:

·       The successful job applicant will have completed High School plus specialized courses of up to six months/diploma program

  • OR Post-secondary education – Related to Social/Human Services

NOTE:  An alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable.

 MINIMUM PRIOR RELATED EXPERIENCE:

The incumbent must have the following experience before hire.

·       1-3 years experience in social services setting

 PHYSICAL EFFORT/DEXTERITY REQUIRED:

The performance of the job requires continuously sitting for long periods of time, entering client data and may include some lifting.

 

CONCENTRATION REQUIRED:

The performance of the job requires attention to detail, exercises confidentiality in keeping accurate client files and statistical records and exercise empathetic care when assisting individuals.

The incumbent’s work environment is typically in the office space
