        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

 
PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: 

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

Description

Working in a team of two (2) and sharing all job duties, Kettle Campaign Drivers will be responsible for delivering and picking up The Salvation Army Kettles at various locations throughout the City of Ottawa as well as supporting kettle attendants in the field.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in car retrieval and kettle set up prior to start of campaign and tear down and return of vehicles at conclusion of campaign
  • Ensure cars are road ready at all times
  • On a daily basis, deliver and pick up kettles from assigned locations throughout the City
  • Ensuring all kettles are ‘next day’ ready at the end of the day, including ensuring all COVID safety protocols are followed
  • Deliver the ‘end of day’ kettles for processing
  • Support the Kettle Lead, organizational messages and expectations while in the field and provide follow up to kettle attendants as requested by the Kettle Lead
  • Be proactive to requests and trouble shot while on the road.
  • Follow the provided schedule and complete all necessary paperwork
  • Follow gas card use and receipting as per policy
  • Ensure all COVID safety procedures and practices are followed and adhered to by self and kettle attendants
  • Act as a Kettle Attendant when necessary
  • Be presentable and approachable as an ambassador of The Salvation Army
  • Follow all pertinent laws, statutes, and regulations while operating a motor vehicle

Working Conditions

  • Drivers are required to work Monday – Saturday evenings
  • Drivers are required to spend considerable time in a vehicle with another driver. COVID best practice safety procedures, including wearing a mask at all times, will be strictly enforced.
  • May deal with angry and abusive clients
  • May encounter verbal abuse

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school graduate
  • Valid ‘G’ license with a minimum of 2 years current driving experience with a full license
  • Current clear drivers abstract
  • Must be able to present a ‘clear’ police background check

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:

  • Must be able to work with a variety of people
  • Knowledge of Ottawa region roadways
  • Ability to concentrate while driving through traffic

Skills and Capabilities:

  • Capable of lifting and carrying at least 50 lbs. for a short distance and up stairs
  • Good interpersonal/communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, work efficiently, follow instructions and think independently

HOURS: Monday to Saturday 5pm – 10pm (on call when needed)
