Description
To coordinate and oversee the operation of The Salvation Army’s Christmas kettles, workers and volunteers as well as keeping record of deposits and reports as requested for the Dartmouth, Sackville, and Bedford/Larry Uteck areas.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contact and recruit kettle volunteers, and ensure all recruitment requirements are met.
– Meetings with management/Officers as required.
– Daily contact with the public.
– Daily contact with other employees/volunteers as it relates to duties.
- Schedule shifts of kettle volunteers and respond to emergency absences, etc.
- Supervise kettle locations and maintain a positive working relationship with managers/owners of the locations.
- Deliver kettles daily to, and schedule volunteer/staff to pick up kettles at end of day/shift from each location.
- Ensure the secure handling and transporting of donations back to Salvation Army Sydney Community Church.
- Schedule approved, designated volunteers and/or staff to count and record donations (daily, if possible.) and ensure safe storage of donations until same can be deposited to the bank.
- Update volunteer contact information.
- Record weekly hours on timesheets (submit bi-weekly) and mileage reports (submit at month end).
- Provide a final report complete with recommendations to aid in the planning and implementation of the next year’s kettle campaign.
- Demonstrate a willingness to participate in ongoing professional development.
- Adhere to standards consistent with the values and philosophy of The Salvation Army.
- Represent the organization in a professional manner while maintaining confidentiality.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to fulfill responsibilities according to The Salvation Army Mission Statement.
- Able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
- Valid Driver’s License and your own vehicle.
- Cell Phone, if available (reimbursed for use during Kettle Campaign October through December 24, 2021 – as submitted).
- The successful applicant will obtain clearance through The Salvation Army’s Internal Abuse Registry and obtain a Criminal Police Check.
MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL ATTAINED:
The successful job applicant will have completed community college or related education.
NOTE: An alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable.
MINIMUM PRIOR RELATED EXPERIENCE:
The incumbent must have the following experience before hire:
Up to three months of prior related experience.
CONCENTRATION REQUIRED:
The performance of the job requires visual monitoring and frequently working with numbers.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
– 40 hours per week Monday to Saturday (flexible schedule)
– Term Contract: November, 2021 to December 24th, 2021
