Description
The Kettle Worker provides the secure and courteous oversight of a designated Christmas Kettle.
DAYS and HOURS of work: Expected to work weekdays and Saturdays. Hours vary. Lunch breaks are provided but unpaid.
Temporary until approximately December 24, 2021
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accountabilities:
- Greets and thanks donors courteously
- Presents a positive image (well-groomed/dressed) for The Salvation Army while on duty
- Remains at the Kettle for the full shift (until relieved), ensuring security of donations received
- Responds to questions/queries from potential donors regarding SA ministries and programs
- Required to stand for long periods
- Most locations are indoors, but typically with exposure to exterior doors opening and closing.
Working Conditions:
- This is a temporary position with variable hours up until December 24, 2019. Shifts & Weekends
- The performance of the job requires continuously hosting the kettle and ringing bells.
- The performance of the job requires greeting & thanking donors courteously.
- Mask wearing and all Covid19 protocols are required.
- Kettle locations are typically near an exterior entrance door, with means exposure to elements such as cool air.
- Standing for long periods of time
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:
- Up to three months prior related experience
- Support for and an understanding of the mission and the purpose of The Salvation Army
Note: Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Skills and Capabilities:
- Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds may be required.
- Possesses good customer service skills – be friendly, courteous, positive, outgoing, flexible, task oriented, patient
- Possesses good oral communication skills
- Be able to work independently
- Ability to focus on job and refrain from distractions, i.e. mobile phone use, texting, etc.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
- Willingness to work indoors at high traffic retail locations
- Willingness to experience exposure to cool outside, as may come through doors
- Follows the dress code and be well groomed
Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:
- Background check consent
- A clear vulnerable sector screening
- A clean drivers abstract
- Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training
