Description
To assist in the operations of collecting and processing donations to the Thrift Stores, and Foodbank, practicing good stewardship of our donated resources.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Safe and careful handling of all donations and deliveries in TS & Foodbank warehouse
- Provide courteous and diplomatic service
- Load/unload goods at warehouse(s) and other destinations
- Participate in maintaining the safety and cleanliness of the buildings, including snow removal, garbage and recycling sorting and removal
- Operates warehouse equipment such as baler, compactor, forklift.
- Assists with processing raw materials by unloading, sorting, packing, sorting, loading and baling the donations; protects the integrity of the donations.
- Selects goods for thrift store distribution meeting established standards of quality
- Meets assigned daily Thrift Store targets;
- Assist in Thrift Store as required: including hanging, pricing goods.
- May Assist the lead truck driver with their duties
- May assume the lead truck driver duties in lead truck driver’s absence.
- Be responsible for overall safety, maintenance, and operation of vehicle on driving days.
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Completion of High School (an alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable)
Experience:
- The successful candidate must have 3 months prior experience, including life skills
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- An understanding of and support for the Mission Statement of the Salvation Army in Canada
- Excellent customer/donor service ethics including the ability to deal with the public in a friendly manner
- A proven ability to work in a team setting as well as a willingness to take personal initiatives
- The ability to adapt to change and interruptions to a normal work routine, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- A valid BC class “5” license with appropriate certification and proof of a clean drivers abstract
- The ability to maintain confidentiality.
- A willingness to adhere to a dress code of modesty, neatness and cleanliness
- The successful applicant must have, or be willing to obtain, a criminal record check, clearance from the National Abuse Registry and be bondable
Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:
- Background check consent.
- A clear vulnerable sector screening.
- A clean drivers abstract.
- Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training.
