Reporting to a branch director (Intergovernmental Relations), the policy analyst independently manages assigned intergovernmental policies and projects, advancing the priorities of British Columbia at the federal and inter-provincial levels. This will require the incumbent have a breadth of knowledge of the health care system and government policies in BC, Canada, and internationally, and to work on highly sensitive and confidential issues. The policy analyst represents the Ministry of Health and works collaboratively as a Ministry representative with representatives of other ministries and other jurisdictions (federal and provincial), as well as outside stakeholder organizations such as Pan Canadian Health Organizations. The policy analyst seeks information, builds and leverages relationships, and uses critical analysis and process knowledge to assess issues, provide recommendations and implement plans and change for senior Ministry officials and Government executive on a broad range of complex topics affecting the health care system.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

Bachelor’s Degree in health, economics, business administration, public administration, communications, political science or related academic discipline; and

A minimum of 1 year professional experience in each of the following:

Experience researching policy issues and conducting policy analysis;

Experience coordinating and/or managing complex projects and/or project components, including experience either leading and/or participating in multi-stakeholder initiatives;

Experience preparing high-level briefing materials for senior officials or senior decision makers; and

Experience producing high quality written materials in a very short timeframe for executive and/or other senior decision makers.

An equivalent combination of education and professional experience may be considered.

Preference may be given to candidates with:
Policy experience related to health, health care and/or healthy living;

Additional years of experience in any of the above.
