The Workforce Development and Skills Training provides leadership on strategic workforce development information, policy and programs to connect industry and the post-secondary education and skills training systems to ensure British Columbians can succeed in a strong sustainable economy. Our mission is to advance innovative, accessible workforce information, policies and programs so all British Columbians have the skills and abilities to reach their full potential. The Employer and Sector Partnerships Branch helps industry and employers anticipate, understand, and respond to labour market changes through collaborative partnerships, investments, and targeted programming.

The Director works in partnership with employers and other stakeholders to ensure employer programs and services are relevant, accessible, and effective. This position is responsible for leading and directing the BC Employer Training Grant program, which enables partnerships with employers to provide training that will help British Columbians enter or advance in the labour market, under the Canada-BC Workforce Development Agreement (WDA). The Director also oversees the WorkBC Contact Centre which is responsible for developing and maintaining innovative, timely, citizen-centred LMI-based tools, products and services for students, employers, job seekers, educators, immigrants and government. The unit is responsible for products such as the WorkBC website, the WelcomeBC website and the BC Job Bank application.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

Post-secondary degree in business administration or public administration or related field; OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience in developing and managing provincial government programs including: third party delivery models; application-based programs; procurement; contract management; performance management; issues management; and financial resources.

Experience negotiating solutions and partnerships with stakeholders.

Experience leading and resolving complex staff and/or client issues.

Experience developing and maintaining working relationships and resolving problems with stakeholders and clients.

Preference may be given candidates with the following:
Experience in the administration of labour market programs or application-based programs.
