Description
The Christmas Kettle Campaign Assistant ensures the smooth running of the kettle campaign, maximizing donations and coordinating the staffing of employees and volunteers.
Terms of Employment / Hours:
- Contract Part Time Temporary position from October 25, 2021, to December 24, 2021.
- The position requires working up to 24 hours per week/Three days per week, (Monday to Saturday).
- There may be a possibility of more hours as needed upon the request of the Corps Officer.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Is able to work in adherence to The Salvation Army’s Christian Mission and Values.
- Awareness and compliance with CHILLIWACK Policies and Procedures.
- Assist in planning, organizing, and directing aspects of the Kettle Campaign.
- Assist in contacting churches, businesses, and other organizations to fill volunteer spots on kettles
- Ensure kettle locations are kept well-stocked with supplies.
- Ensure necessary coverage for kettle worker breaks.
- Represent The Salvation Army in a positive, professional manner.
- Assist in planning and organizing Kettle Worker’s Briefing Meeting.
- Help to recruit, train, and supervise campaign employees and volunteers.
- Prepare daily and weekly work schedules for employees and volunteers.
- Assist in coordinating the day-to-day operations during the campaign.
- Respond to inquiries and complaints of employees, volunteers, and store/location managers.
- Consult with the Corps Officer and the Kettle Team or designate on issues as they arise.
- Prepare reports on the planning and progress of the campaign.
- Must have basic computer knowledge and word processing skills.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate must:
- Must have a Police Security Clearance Certificate.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be team and people oriented and possess organizational and judgment skills and public relations skills.
- Must be a self-motivated multi-tasker who is able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must have the ability to meet deadlines and to cope with high-stress issues.
- Must be agreeable to a flexible work schedule including Saturdays and in emergency situations.
- Good interpersonal, initiative, and organizational skills.
- Ability to relate to and engage marginalized people with a positive outcome perspective while remaining non-judgmental.
- Must be pleasant, helpful and a worthy representative of The Salvation Army as she/he meets and deals with the public.
- Adaptability and flexibility in accepting changes to routine.
- Ability to deal with frequent interruptions while maintaining focus in completing all routine tasks.
