College Professor – Geography and Earth & Environmental Science

The role and responsibilities of a faculty member focus on the activities related to teachers, academics and scholars. They include but are not limited to an awareness of current scholarship and continuing mastery in one’s field, instructional and professional duties, professional development, and service. In addition, duties and responsibilities may include scholarly activity.

Education and Experience

The minimum qualification is a Master’s degree; PhD is preferred. An equivalent level credential as appropriate for the discipline will be considered. Professional or post-secondary school work experience directly related to the duty assignment is an asset. Experience demonstrating a learner-centered teaching philosophy is desired. An active profile in scholarship, research and creative activity is preferred.

Designs and teaches a course with regard for learning outcomes

Teaches in a variety of modes, including lecture, discussion, active student involvement and laboratory work as appropriate

Interested in use of appropriate technological aids in instruction

Preferred Qualifications

The Department of Geography and Earth & Environmental Science is seeking a term part-time College Professor to teach two lectures plus 3 labs, over the Fall 2021 and Winter 2022 semesters, at the Penticton Campus.

Courses include EESC 101 Environmental Science (lecture and lab), GEOG 111 Intro to Physical Geography: Climate & Vegetation (lab), GEOG 121 Intro to Physical Geography: Water & Land (lecture and lab).

An understanding of remote (online) teaching is desired.

Fall 2021: EESC 101 051 Tues & Thurs 0800-0920 (lecture);

EESC 101 L51 Fri 1330-1620 (lab);

Winter 2022: GEOG 121 051 Tues & Thurs 1400-1520 (lecture);

GEOG 121 L51 Fri 1330-1620 (lab).

Annual Salary/Hourly Rate Salary placement is dependent upon qualifications and experience.
