Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, this position is accountable for the development and the implementation of the GTAA’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion(DEI) strategy, programs, policies and processes ensuring alignment with the strategic objective of the organization as well as the organization’s people strategy. This role will drive DEI results in the organization by raising awareness, providing education, driving action and meaningful change through continuous improvement. This role will provide leadership of a DEI function and advisory committee of dedicated and passionate employees through collaboration with HR and the broader business peers to embed DEI in the fabric of our culture. They will ensure that programs are practical, effective, and adhere to policies, best practice processes, legislation and Collective Bargaining Agreements while challenging the GTAA to grow, evolve and improve and eventually lead in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
Responsible for being a DEI subject matter expert, change agent and key enabler of the GTAA’s commitment to fostering a culture and environment that is diverse, inclusive and equitable while instilling a sense of employee belonging
A strategic thought partner to HR and broader organizational leadership in the development of people and business strategies aligned to the GTAA’s Strategic Plan
Best practices research, external/community engagement and partnerships
Develop and execute DEI Strategy through Stakeholder Management, Influence and Engagement
Change Management and Communications Planning and execution
Partner and collaborate with internal teams and leaders to educate, advise, promote and champion D&I initiatives
Design, delivery, analysis and advisory on GTAA Diversity Meter census, survey and results
Oversee Employment Equity and broader DEI data analysis and reporting
Management of Employment Equity Plan and compliance with annual reporting requirements
Execute DEI program and initiatives to desired outcomes and alignment with the DEI Strategy
Build relationships with business leaders to understand their needs and solicit input to the design and execution of programs
Keeping key stakeholders updated and aligned on DEI programs and initiatives
Ensuring that HR Business Partners are equipped with the information and tools to assist the business leaders in delivering against the DEI Strategy
Partner with GTAA Senior Leaders to improve the value and effectiveness of DEI programs and initiatives
Provide day-to-day and strategic leadership to the DEI function
Project leadership of the DEI Advisory Committee/DEI BRIT
Playing a leadership role on the HR Leadership Team and for the broader HR team
Providing feedback and coaching for the team on performance and development
Perform other related duties as assigned
The salary for this management non-unionized position is competitive based on the successful candidate’s qualifications.
Qualifications
University Degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field
CHRP or CHRL designation is considered an asset
Canadian Certified Inclusion Professional (CCIP) designation, or other Diversity and Inclusion certification preferred
Minimum 7 years of DEI Leadership experience
Minimum 10 years management experience in the development and implementation of transformational enterprise initiatives
Demonstrated experience implementing change management methodology for large-scale transformation initiatives
Proven experience leading, influencing and executing on multi-year diversity and inclusion strategies and initiatives
Experience in a unionized environment is preferred
Must be able to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for the position

Well connected in the DEI space with knowledge of best practices and proven tactics
Superior, executive-level communication skills, both verbal and written, including public speaking and executive presentations
Advanced relationship management and stakeholder management skills

Ability to influence change and effectively manage cross functional teams, customers and partners
Demonstrated ability to lead, and manage multiple, competing deliverables and deal with ambiguity
Highly motivated, adaptable and diplomatic with a demonstrated ability to thrive in a challenging, fast-paced and team-oriented/matrix environment
