Director, Entertainment

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Vice President of Hospitality Operations, this position is responsible for the overall management and profitability of entertainment offerings at Casino Woodbine, Pickering Casino Resort, Great Blue Heron Casino and Hotel and Casino Ajax while providing support to other Great Canadian Gaming properties in Ontario. The ideal candidate must be highly collaborative, display exceptional communication, interpersonal and analytical skills. The position contributes to a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members, guests, and contractors. The candidate will create a working environment that fosters collaboration, respect, and trust. Additionally, adherence to all policies and procedures, laws and statutes is required. Above all else, must embrace and be aligned with One Toronto Gaming’s culture and philosophy of providing outstanding entertainment experiences.

Key Accountabilities:
Develop, direct, and implement the entertainment strategic plan

Develop and manage the entertainment department budget for the four properties in the Greater GTA

Entertainment Buying (Direct/Non-Direct with Agents) & Contract Negotiations

Develop strategic partnerships with vendors and performers

Technical Requirements of Specials Events and Live Entertainment

Ticketing & Sales Strategies

Planning & Production of Special Events

Coordinate with Marketing Team on advertising, event promotion and membership activation

Coordinate with operations on scheduling and hospitality requirements

In consort with the internal Legal department, review performance riders; negotiate and implement

Pre and Post Analysis/Reporting; analyze performances based on comparisons to pro forma established for each event

Responsible for purchasing or renting production equipment as required

Liaises with Tour Managers to ensure compliance with artists rider’s and fulfill any additional approved requirements

Meets and greets performers, Tour Managers and traveling company upon arrival

Monitors and controls all associated costs

Responds to and resolves issues as escalated

Remain current with entertainment, special events, and music industry developments

Promote gaming properties and entertainment offerings

Collaborates with counterparts in other GCG operations where entertainment is provided

Recognizes the importance of fostering a culture that drives employee engagement

Delivers memorable entertainment experiences to internal and external guests

Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with all stakeholders: guests, ownership, team members, vendors, and regulators

Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations

Participate in the hiring and ongoing performance management of Entertainment team members

Performs other duties as assigned or directed

Education and Qualification Requirements:
Embraces the One Toronto Gaming culture and philosophy while having an engaging, infectious and “all about the guest” attitude!

Post-Secondary education in entertainment production or suitable combination of education and experience required

Ability to exceed internal and external guests’ expectations through timely, effective, and service oriented communication

Box Office/Ticketing experience required

Casino Marketing experience an asset

Computer literacy in MS Office

Minimum 5-10 years of experience in the entertainment industry with relevant programming and production knowledge

Operational experience in both mid and large sized entertainment venues is a requirement

Experience in multi-venue and multi-purpose venues an asset

Highly developed negotiation skills

Consummate professional and expert communicator

Multi-lingual as asset
