Our expectations

Reporting to the Regional Director of Dealer Sales and Support, the District Manager, Sales and Support is responsible for the business relationship and program execution with RONA affiliated merchants.

The person selected will be primarily responsible for maximizing the growth of profitable sales and market share of the affiliated dealers in the territory under his or her responsibility without the sacrifice of brand standards and consumer experience. In this capacity, he or she will seek and seize business opportunities and make recommendations regarding local product needs, merchandising and ready-to-shop products. He or she will promote and appropriately apply corporate merchandising programs, contribute to specific local initiatives and advertising (e.g., signage, promotions),

The person will develop and facilitate business relationships between network stakeholders, vendors and offer quality service to merchants.

Your role

  • Work closely with affiliate merchants to develop profitable business plans and offer advice and recommendations by analyzing their sales data, marketing practices, product selection and operational procedures.
  • Act as RONA’s representative to ensures the compliant application and maximization of retail operations and programs.
  • Collaborate with the business development team to onboard new dealers.* Business planning should balance dealer priorities with corporate strategies such as profitable growth, product assortment loyalty, brand standards and retail operational programs including but not limited to customer experience, in stock position plus clean and safe stores.
  • Prepare semi-annual objectives and action plans for each store and territory under their responsibility.
  • Promote corporately aligned sales programs, merchandising strategies, placements, flyers, exhibits, must-haves, special purchase options and private label products.
  • Review ongoing, store performance based on the current year’s budget and previous year’s data.
  • Assist affiliated dealers with respect to operational procedures and in the continuous improvement of their retail store image aligned with RONA standards
  • Ensure optimal participation of affiliated merchants in marketing and advertising programs
  • Increase the loyalty rate and sales performance by:
  • Conducting regular in-store visits
  • Reviewing product selections and in store merchandising execution
  • Introducing and ensuring RONA’s implementation of new display formats and programs
  • Validating the execution of flyers and the use of in-store advertising (POP)
  • Ensuring that Merchant Affiliates support authorized vendors
  • Identify and drive new opportunities to improve product performance for each category.
  • Understand the merchandising needs of the regions and markets their dealers serve.
  • Participate in the planning of product placement within the stores as recommended by Store Planning* Partner with affiliate staff or partners to oversee the in-store execution of merchandising activities, projects and services, as well as to ensure that customers have a clean, safe, accessible, attractive and on brand shopping experience.
  • Proactively assist with project coordination and manage projects and initiatives to realization
  • Overseeing the work of store merchandising team members
  • From time to time assist product reset with hands on coaching/teaching to ensure execution is completed on-time and aligned to the core integrity of planograms
  • In collaboration with the business development team, help maximize RONA’s market share by identifying candidates for new markets:
  • Facilitate the conversion of affiliated merchants and new store openings through :
  • Coordinate initial orders for regular and seasonal products
  • Coordinate store layout plans and the execution of marketing plans
  • Other activities and behaviours include:
  • Actively participate in team meetings, conferences and trade shows
  • Develop a thorough understanding of all programs, products and services offered by RONA
  • Interpret financial analyses and propose solutions
  • Leverage market knowledge to grow RONA’s market share and from time to time, visit Lowe’s Canada stores and those of competitors to better understand the needs of the product categories
  • Determine priorities and develop action plans to meet or exceed objectives within required timeframes
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency by raising the issues of affiliate merchants and finding ways to resolve them effectively while targeting and analyzing the causes in order to generate solutions.
  • Develop strong professional business relationships to promote optimal return on investment and be able to work with entrepreneurs in a consultative approach.
  • Maintain a professional and productive relationship with vendors
  • Act as RONA’s ambassador by projecting a good brand image with professionalism at all times
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned or required
  • Provide open feedback and mentorship to team members to encourage growth and greater responsibility
  • Works independently with little supervision, maintains a high level of engagement
  • Practices self-leadership and promotes learning in others by building relationships with cross-functional stakeholders; communicating information and providing advice to drive projects forward; influencing team members within assigned unit; adapting to competing demands and new responsibilities

The qualifications we are looking for

o College diploma or university degree in a related field

o At least 8 years of experience in one or more of the following: purchasing, buying, sales, merchandising, brand management or related field

o Ability to identify and promote profitable sales opportunities,

o Ability to balance customer growth and defending corporate priorities

o Ability and interest in developing a good understanding of the hardware and renovation industry as well as market positioning

o High standards of customer service; ability to quickly gain and maintain the trust of its customers.

o Ability to work effectively under pressure and demonstrate composure at all times and autonomy in dealing with priorities

o Experience in retail product merchandising, retail industry or with relevant product categories

o Demonstrated experience leading and working with cross-functional teams

o Good knowledge of common computer systems and applications (e.g., Internet, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word), particularly for analyzing sales results and trends

o Ability to travel frequently (4 days/week)

o Ability to work evenings and weekends as required

o Car in good condition and valid driver’s license

o Functional oral and written English (required); bilingualism required in some jurisdictions.
