Description
Under the guidance of Food Bank Coordinator and Ministry Lead, the driver is responsible for all pickups and deliveries as required for the center.
Hours:
20 hours per week/ 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Monday through Friday
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Is responsible for picking up all donations and making deliveries as required.
- Sorts all pickups (donations) before stocking in storage areas, coolers, refrigerators and/or freezers.
- Upon receipt of any fresh bread contacts the kitchen staff first to see if they need it before stocking shelf for the day (empty shelf of previous days products)
- Rotates the donations in the coolers and refrigerators, and storage areas as required
- Ensures that coolers/refrigerators are kept organized and clean.
- Recycles any bakery in coolers and freezers
- Takes any spoiled or outdated products to the dumpster.
- Maintains and cleans the loading area and Centre vehicle.
- Daily inspects vehicle and ensures that vehicle is not below a quarter of (1/4) of a tank on fuel
- May be required to pick up and deliver clients, guests, hampers etc.
- May perform other related duties.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Completion of High Schoo grade 12 or equivalent.
- Must have a valid B.C. Class 5 driver’s license. A driver’s abstract will be required.
PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:
- Must be able to follow instructions both verbally and written.
- Excellent customer/donor service ethics including the ability to deal with the public in a courteous and friendly manner.
- Must work co-operatively with others as well as a willingness to take personal initiatives.
- The ability to adapt to change and interruptions to normal work routine, and to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- The ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Willing to wear specified dress code and identification.
- Previous driving experience is an asset.
- Must understand and reflect The Salvation Army Philosophy Standards, and Tenets
