DUTIES:
The E. C. E. Worker is one of several E.C.E. Worker positions reporting to the Administrative Assistant, with the direction of the Early Childhood Education Leader, in the Tikinagan Childcare Centre. This positions is required under the Day Nurseries Act to maintain appropriate staff to children ratios. The incumbent concentrates on the supervision of children and maintenance of a quality, safe day care environment. The successful candidate will:
- Supervises children in their daily routines and activities which enhance the children’s physical, social, emotional and cognitive development;
- Provides behaviour guidance and ongoing supervision of playroom, playground, group, individual and routine activities;
- Ensures overall health and safety of children enrolled in the Day Care by maintaining a sanitary and safe environment and identifying children who are unwell;
- Plans developmental appropriate curriculum that is congruent with the department philosophy and meets the requirements of the governing legislation;
- Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with families.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
The incumbent will possess the following qualifications:
- Registered Early Childhood Educator is required;
- Minimum 2-year diploma in Early Childhood Education or a related program of study;
- Minimum of (1) year experience working in a licensed day care centre and/or experience gained through an Early Childhood Education college diploma program – i.e. fieldwork placements is preferred;
- Valid First Aid/ CPR and Food Handling Certificate is required;
- Ability to provide a copy of immunization record is required; and
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
The incumbent may be required to provide a criminal reference check.
