Education Assistant

Education Assistant ~ Full-time Position (2 Positions)

1.00 FTE – 30 hours per week

École Coloniale Estates School – Beaumont, AB

Duties:

• Working with complex needs students in an inclusive environment.
• Supporting severe cognitive, developmental and communication needs
• Assist with personal care including feeding, tube feeding, hydration, medication, hygiene/toileting
• Work with a multidisciplinary team to implement individual student programs
• Early literacy and numeracy intervention with students
• Other duties as assigned by school administration

Qualifications:

• Willingness to accept new challenges and learn new ideas
• Familiarity/Training in Learning Language and Loving It, Circle of Security, Picture Exchange Communication

System (PECS)

• Familiarity/Training with Alternative and Augmented Communication Device and software (LAMP)
• Ability and willingness to perform a variety of tasks with students following the direction of the classroom

teacher; flexibility within daily routine is a must

• Experience working with behaviorally challenging children
• Positive Behavior training is an asset
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training is an asset
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
• Education Assistant certificate/diploma is an asset
• Must have completed the Respect in the Workplace and Respect in School Certificates
• Able to lift/support approximately 50lbs
• Position commences August 27, 2021
• Salary and benefits according to C.U.P.E. Collective Agreement
