This is supervisory work in the planning, assigning, supervising, reviewing and as required, participating in the work of one or more crews of subordinates engaged in a variety of Parks grounds maintenance, eco-sculpture, habitat restoration, invasive species control and/or minor construction tasks. Plans, assigns, supervises, reviews, inspects and may participate in the work of one or more crews of subordinates engaged in a variety of parks grounds maintenance, eco-sculpture, habitat restoration, invasive species control and/or minor construction tasks. Considerable independence of judgement and action are exercised in the day to day utilization of manpower and equipment. Matters of a more complex or policy nature are referred to a superior who reviews work performance on the basis of conformance to established standards. Assists in the preparation of preliminary budget estimates and monitors actual expenditures and advises a superior of any anticipated problems. Motivates, allocates, trains and disciplines members of crews, ensures safety of crews and public by advising and enforcing observance of accident prevention methods and precautions. Prepares and maintains a variety of records and reports related to the work. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include the completion of Grade 12 preferably supplemented by training or courses related to the work plus considerable related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, materials and equipment used in parks grounds maintenance, minor construction, eco-sculpture, habitat restoration, and/or invasive species control and removal operations. Considerable knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates and the public. Skill in the use and care of equipment, materials and vehicles used in the work. Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required.

Work Schedule:  Thursday to Monday: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM

This position is temporary full time until October 29, 2021.
