        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

 
PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: 

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Graphic Design Specialist is responsible for the visual art, photography and creative graphic design for Salvationist/Faith & Friends magazines, ensuring they are completed on time and with the highest level of quality. In addition, the Graphic Design Specialist collaborates with the Digital Media Specialist in updating the Salvationist.ca/Salutiste.ca website and digital media for the Editorial Department. The position requires some photography, social media, podcast editing and other design projects such as the creation of books/e-books.  Specific key responsibilities include the following:

Territorial Publications

  • Designs the monthly issues of Salvationist/Faith & Friends and prepares output files for printer
  • Meets with editors and Editor-in-Chief to discuss art direction, including cover concepts, photography/illustration, special issues and themes for all issues, securing the required visual art
  • Oversees design proofs for quality control prior to sign-off
  • Manages art budget in conjunction with Editor-in-Chief and makes recommendation to purchase all required design software, stock photos and photography equipment
  • Keeps up-to-date on the latest trends in visual art and design

Digital Media / Salvationist.ca

  • Collaborates with Digital Media Specialist in design and maintenance of Salvationist.ca
  • Facilitates editing, production and promotion for Salvationist podcasts
  • Keeps website secure and running efficiently by liaising with technical support/IT Department
  • Collaborates with the Digital Media Specialist on the creation of e-newsletters, social media graphics, apps and other digital media as assigned
  • Suggests areas of potential optimization across all web/digital channels
  • Facilitates additional media projects in collaboration with the communications team (e.g. video, webinars, etc.)

Books / E-books

  • Designs books/e-books for Editorial Department as assigned
  • Works with Supplies and Purchasing Department to print/publish books with outside vendors

Photography / Videography

  • Facilitates photographs/video to support stories and articles in the magazines and website as assigned
  • Ensures quality control for all artwork and photography that involves negotiation with external printers to ensure standards are met

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completion of a college/university program in graphic arts, web design or digital marketing is required
  • 3-5 years prior related experience in graphic design/digital media
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver)
  • Ability to design print publications
  • Experience with website design and content management systems (e.g. WordPress), CSS, HTML, JavaScript
  • Expertise in email management systems such as MailChimp
  • Experience with search engine optimization, social media and digital marketing campaigns
  • Expertise in photography/videography/podcast, including experience using Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Knowledge of AODA compliance standards for accessibility
  • Respect and understanding of The Salvation Army’s mission, culture and values
