The Salvation Army’s Rotary Hospice House located in Richmond. We are looking for a weekend laundry/housekeeper that wishes to work in a warm and loving environment. The laundry/housekeeper performs a variety of general cleaning and laundry service functions in keeping with the standards of the Hospice.
Hours:
- Until Return of Incumbent
- Saturday & Sunday – 8:30am to 4:30pm (7.5 hrs/day)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Clean rooms, including resident rooms within the facility. Duties involve: wash walls, wash scrubs, clean and/or vacuum floors, dust furniture, and clean mirrors and windows.
- Disinfect/Sanitize high touch surfaces daily
- Keep storage areas and carts clean & tidy
- Empty various waste receptacles and dispose of refuse.
- Clean common area laundry/washrooms daily
- Thorough cleaning of vacated rooms
- Accommodate requested duty assignments from direct supervisor
- Inform direct Supervisor when supplies are getting low.
- Be able to clean unexpected accidents that would be related to the housekeeping department
- Pick up, sort, wash, dry, fold or hang laundry as required.
- Keep all laundry equipment clean & tidy.
- Follow infection control procedures.
- Change and make beds.
- Report any maintenance needs. Duties may involve light maintenance such as changing light bulbs, basic plumbing, etc.
- Ensure all housekeeping documentation is accurate and complete.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of information and residents.
- Participate in work-related conferences and seminars in order to gather knowledge of trends and initiatives.
- Fosters positive relationships with and between families and staff members
- Performs other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma
- Criminal Records Check
- WHIMS Certificate
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in Hospice related care is preferred.

- Able to work independently.
- Demonstrated interpersonal teamwork and organization skills.
- Able to operate related equipment.
- Able to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted on a regular basis.
- Moderate physical fitness to accommodate standing, lifting, and other strenuous job duties.
- Able to read and implement duties and work routines.
- Able to support the mission statement of Southview Heights and Terrace.
