The Transportation Division of Highways and Public Works builds and maintains the infrastructure, systems and programs that are critical to a healthy and vibrant Yukon. The Manager, Motor Vehicles is responsible for planning, implementing, evaluating and managing the programs of the Motor Vehicles unit which has the regulatory authority under the Motor Vehicles Act to issue driver licences, vehicle registrations, various permits for commercial and private vehicles, and apply various sanctions to driver licences and suspend or cancel registrations. This position is a key member of the Branch management team responsible for developing and implementing policies and programs.

Essential Qualifications

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the following qualifications. Please note selection for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

Post-secondary education in public or business administration;

Experience managing a program, including delivery, implementing changes, and budgeting;

Experience managing staff;

Experience dealing with members of the public;

Experience interpreting and applying legislation;

Experience developing policies, plans, procedures and guidelines;

Experience delivering programs and services through working with other departments and business units.

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above will be equally considered.

Candidates should have and may be assessed on:
Excellent oral and written communication skills;

Ability to exercise sound judgement and make good decisions;

Interpersonal and conflict management skills;

Ability to work well with the public.
