Job Summary

Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick (DMNB) is one of the two campuses of Dalhousie Faculty of Medicine. The main administrative office is located on the University of New Brunswick campus in Saint John. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and working in collaboration with the Assistant Dean Clinical Education, and Associate Deans DMNB and Undergraduate Medical Education (UME), the Operations Manager will ensure strategic and operational plans are in place, and promote and implement best practices that support the delivery of the Med1 – Med 4 curriculum

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and oversee the activities of administrative with a focus on building team dynamics and cross-training initiatives between the two campuses.

Provide assistance to faculty and staff regarding the administration of curriculum at multiple sites and ensure compliance to policies/procedures and regulatory standards are maintained.

Maintain close communication with students, staff, faculty and Student Affairs on critical information and develop internal and external communication strategies.

Oversee the development, maintenance and continual improvement of systems and processes and liaise with system experts regarding technical problems or development as necessary.

Resolve barriers and respond to requests impacting workload and curriculum delivery and develop and maintain procedures and policies for efficient and effective operational delivery.

Coach, mentor, and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities and develop and deliver orientation program for Clerkship Directors on systems and processes.

Note

Occasional work on evenings and weekends required.

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in a related discipline, plus approximately three to five years’ related experience in administrative and supervisory experience, preferably in a university or health care setting (or equivalent combination of training and experience) is required. Excellent communication and organization skills is required with the ability to work in a team environment. Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to work independently, make decisions and provide leadership in a multi-site, multi-stakeholder environment is required. Working experience with One-45, On-line Web-based Learning systems will be considered an asset. Knowledge of medical education programs and/or academic health care environment will also be considered an asset.
