Intent of the process
This process may be used by the Department of National Defence to fill current and future vacancies in various locations with various employment tenures (temporary and permanent), language profiles, security requirements, and conditions of employment.
A pool of partially qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions within the Department of National Defence, whose duration, language proficiencies and security profiles could vary depending on the position being staffed. Although the current positions are located in the National Capital Region, there may be opportunities to work remotely.
Please note that asset qualifications, top-down and/or random selection may be used to identify which applications will be given further consideration.
For some positions, priority consideration may be given to Indigenous candidates.

EDUCATION
EDU1: Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.
Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Degree equivalency
EXPERIENCE
ALL POSITIONS:
EX1: Experience in preparing documents such as project documents, briefing notes, position papers, evaluation reports, strategic plans or presentation decks to senior management on complex matters
EX2: Significant* experience researching and analyzing policy issues and recommending options to senior management
EX3: Experience in leading presentations to partners and stakeholders on policy related files
EC 06 AND 07 POSITIONS ONLY:
EX4: Significant* experience in leading or managing complex policy initiatives
EX5: Significant* experience providing strategic advice (verbal and written) on complex policy issues to senior management
EX6: Significant* experience working with multiple internal and external stakeholders representing diverse interests
FOR SOME POSITIONS (may be required):
EX7: Experience developing positive relationships with First Nations, Inuit or Métis
EX8: Significant* experience in planning and analysis of real property of greening government projects
EX9: Experience with alternative delivery and financing models for real property or greening government projects involving the private sector, such as public-private-partnerships
COMPLEX is defined as: situations that require knowledge of many intricate or interconnected elements and of the relationships between these elements to arrive at a solution. This will be evaluated based on amount and diversity of work handled, the level of autonomy demonstrated and the impact of decisions.
SENIOR MANAGEMENT is defined as: director level and above.
INITIATIVES is defined as: large-scale projects or programs that involve multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- SIGNIFICANT is defined as the depth and breadth of experience that would normally have been gained performing the duties continuously for a minimum period of two (2) years within the last five (5) years.

AE1: Experience conducting analysis and providing advice on Indigenous matters related to reconciliation such as land claims/treaties or engagement/consultation or socio-economic benefits and/or experience leading or managing policy files on Indigenous matters
AE2: Experience in establishing collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
AE3: Experience working on files related to Government of Canada priorities.
AE4: Experience working with any of the three Indigenous peoples: First Nations, Inuit and Metis and/or programs related to their histories, cultures, traditions, values, health issues, socio-economic concerns, beliefs and current realities.
AE5: Experience in the management of human and/or and financial resources.
