The Brantford Booth Centre is a 58-bed emergency men’s shelter and Correctional Residential Facility (CRF) offering housing and reintegration supports to those in the Brantford-Brant area. This is a busy 24/7 facility that operates from a housing-focused and harm-reduction framework to reintegrate those we serve successfully back into their communities.
This is a permanent, full-time position. Schedule may vary according to requirements of responsibilities – some weekend and evening work will be required. The regular hours of work are 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., Sunday to Thursday. This includes a ½ hour unpaid meal break.
This position is considered a management position for the purposes of the Employment Standards Act of Ontario and as such is not covered by various ESA rules, including but not limited to those related to hours of work, daily and weekly rest periods and overtime compensation. Salary is based on average minimum 40 hours per week. Hours worked are compensated through the annual salary amount.
Normal location of work is at 187 Dalhousie St, Brantford, ON

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serves actively as a member of the management team.
- Provides oversight and supervision of Social Service Staff.
- Provides case management support to residents as needed.
- Supervise day-to-day operations.
- Liaise with community resources and encourage community involvement.
- Provides support and supervision of staff and assist with crisis intervention.
- Participates in the hiring, orientating, evaluating, and disciplining of staff.
- Responsible for completing the scheduling of staff to ensure coverage.
- Participates in daily shift changes with program staff.
- Monitors communication logs.
- Provides statistical when required.
- Identifies staff training requirements and makes recommendations.
- Works in compliance with the Ontario Health & Safety Acts and Regulations
- Participates in Health & Safety related accidents and injury investigations.
- Assists the Program Services Manager in scheduling and chairing staff meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- NOTE: Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Completed Undergraduate University degree in Social Work or a related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years of prior related experience, including experience in a residential setting, experience in supervision, leadership, coaching, and motivating staff and working with marginalized clientele.
- Strong computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification and CPR/First Aid Certification would be an asset.
- Required to provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening.
- Be able to obtain Corrections Canada clearance through the Enhanced Reliability Screening process.
