The Office of Student Progression & Registrar (SPR) ensures adherence to academic regulations and processes that facilitate the provision of valued credentials. A strategic partner in program and student success, the SPR champions NAIT’s educational model and provides subject matter expertise on admissions, enrolment, and student information system solutions and data.
Reporting to the Recruitment Coordinator, the Recruitment Specialist collaborates with internal and external partners to execute the recruitment strategy to meet NAIT domestic enrolment objectives. Major responsibilities include planning and executing recruitment activities; cultivating relationships with prospects, families, schools, and community organizations to promote awareness of NAIT, developing a strong pipeline of qualified applicants, and helping applicants progress along the enrolment funnel to the point of matriculation. This position is also assigned key lead responsibilities to support mandate of the Recruitment Team (e.g., campus tours, Ambassadors, key recruitment events, summer camps, etc.).
Key Responsibilities:
Work with the Coordinator to develop an annual operational recruitment plan for one of NAIT’s four Academic Schools and key lead responsibilities, aligned with the Recruitment Strategy. Monitor progress and adjust the plan as needed throughout the cycle.
Implement strategies to generate applications and increase conversion
Plan, execute, attend and/or present at recruitment activities and events in Alberta
Outline event needs, plan, and execute event strategy for school focus, and other recruitment events as required
Follow up on qualified leads, coordinate and execute outreach campaigns to support applicants along the enrolment funnel
Maintain detailed information on, and answer questions about, NAIT programs, services, entrance requirements, application process, student awards and financial aid, etc.
Respond to inquiries from prospects, families, school, and community organization representatives
Analyze data to determine the most effective use of available resources
Measure the impacts of recruitment activities and events to inform future planning
Support development and updating of recruitment materials
Skills & Abilities:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with strong attention to detail
Strong intercultural and analytical skills, and proven ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
Knowledge and awareness of different target audiences (e.g., high school, transfer, newcomers, mature students, etc.), and their preferences, perspectives, and challenges
Effective time management skills; a sense of urgency, and ability to plan and prioritize daily activities
Ability to work independently and as an effective team member while managing multiple tasks efficiently and effectively, ensuring quality
Critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and good judgement
Ability to develop travel plans and travel independently
A strong understanding of NAIT program offerings, admissions practices, and processes
A strong understanding of post-secondary student recruitment and customer relationship management practices
Knowledge of Canadian and Alberta post-secondary education systems
Qualifications:
Diploma required, Bachelor’s Degree considered an asset.
3-5 years experience in student recruitment and/or enrolment management related work.
Previous experience at a post-secondary institution would be an asset
Previous experience in sales, marketing, or customer service would be an as asset
Valid Driver’s License and the ability to rent a vehicle are required
Ability to lift 25 lbs and work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, and travel within Canada
Remuneration: $2,320.28 – $3,109.48 bi-weekly, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification – Coordinator I).
This position is covered by the AUPE (Alberta Union of Provincial Employees) Collective Agreement.
