Position Summary:

  • Intellectual leadership in cosmology science, focusing on near term results with 21cm H1 emission.
  • Organization of scientific analyses and articles with the larger CHIME team.
  • Optimization of the CHIME telescope operations, in collaboration with on-site staff and software, firmware and hardware developers.
  • Ensuring the calibration of the CHIME telescope is optimized and sufficient for target science.
  • Mentoring and working closely with undergraduate students, graduate students and postdocs to train them in radio cosmology, in the use of the CHIME telescope, and to further the science objectives of the CHIME collaboration.
  • Documentation and generalization of software algorithms and techniques for the benefit of other radio telescopes

Qualifications:

Ability to work with and organize other team members, including graduate students and other scientists. Demonstrated ability in observational cosmology data analysis. Demonstrated ability writing project documentation and research
articles in English. – Strong programming skills in Python and other scientific
computing languages. Experience with code versioning tools, unit testing and software code validation. PhD in physics or astronomy with experience in experimental cosmology. 3-4 years experience in radio telescope operations, calibration
and data analysis. Experience with drive scan interferometer telescope.
