        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

Valid BC Driver’s License

The Residential Services Supervisor provides day-to-day supervision to the departmental staff and provides assistance, guidance, and support in the development and delivery of Emergency, Transitional and Supportive Housing program services for the ministry unit. As scheduled by the Executive Director, this role works on call for staff.

This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, 12:00 Noon to 8:30 pm.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accountabilities:

PROGRAM SUPERVISOR:

  • Provide day-to-day supervision to staff and provide guidance, training, support, and assistance and participate in hiring,
    orientating, training, and evaluating of staff, as directed
  • Report on, make recommendations, and provide input and support to the ED as it relates to the hiring, supervision,
    training, performance management and termination of staff, departmental policy and procedures, and residential issues
    and concerns
  • Give input to planning, developing, and revising policies, protocols, and day-to-day operating procedures for all areas of
    assigned programs; operation in compliance with government and Salvation Army standards including accreditation
    requirements
  • Assist the ED in developing and coordinating the delivery of designated programs; may be responsible for ensuring
    workflow is maintained and safety of participants and employees in the absence of the ED
  • Serving as a supervisor on-call, and under the direction of the ED, will provide guidance, assistance, and direction to staff
    and report incidents and issues to the ED
  • Monitor and ensure employee safety practices are compliant with safety and health standards and prepare, submit, and act
    on incident reports as indicated by HR/ED
  • Identify and recommend proactive safety measures to the ED based on needs and concerns
  • Monitor, coordinate, and direct all aspects of the program(s) operations in accordance with the Mission, Vison and Values
    of The Salvation Army
  • Ensure the proper implementation of the Case Management System including intake, support, referral, networking,
    teaching life skills and other direct services to participants; this includes appropriate use of rehabilitative and disciplinary
    measures; may be required to fill in as backup on occasion, as necessary
  • Participate in or delegate the conduct of room searches according to policy; ensure documentation of searches and results
    in logbook
  • Ensure employees maintain the security and upkeep of the building
  • May provide back-up support and or assume functions at front desk area or other program areas, as needed, including
    tasks that may require lifting weighted objects
  • Respond to complaints from participants in the program(s)
  • Liaise with community resources and encourage community involvement in programs
  • Develop a supportive relationship and cooperate with employees, participants, volunteers and students

ADMINISTRATION:

  • Establish and maintain proper records and files for each assigned program, write progress and in-depth reports and provide
    information on the outcome of the program(s) and the progress of each participant
  • Schedule employees in accordance with Union and government contracts and Residential standards; may respond to and
    resolve complaints in the absence of the ED and with the advice of HR
  • Provide statistical and evaluative information to management levels when required

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Minimum of a 2 – 3 year diploma in a Social Services related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience
    may be considered

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:

  • Two to three years of prior related experience, including experience in a social service setting, supervision, budgeting,
    working with marginalized individuals, and a social services background
  • Valid certification in First Aid/CPR, WHMIS, and Non-violent crisis intervention training would be valued asset

  • Ability and willingness to adhere to, uphold, support, and promote The Salvation Army’s mission, vision, and values in the day-to-day operations of the department
