S2021-96 Educational Assistant – Duclos School

A unique assembly of sprawling lakes that lie under the stunning Aurora Borealis in northeastern Alberta; this is the area that Northern Lights Public Schools calls home.

We have nearly 6,000 students enrolled in schools throughout the Division for the 2020-2021 school year, and we offer a wide range of programs to accommodate all students and parents, including home education, preschool and out-of-school care.

Northern Lights Public Schools invites applications for the following position:

S2021-96 Educational Assistant – Duclos School

This is a Full-Time position commencing as soon as possible and for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year. The assignment involves assisting with student educational program needs including social skills, behavior skills, and self-help. The successful applicant will possess the ability to work with a variety of students at various elementary grade levels and with varying degree of needs.

Duclos School is located in the Town of Bonnyville with approximately 460 students from ECS to Grade 4.At Duclos we are developing mind and character in a safe, caring and learning environment.

Preference will be given to applicants who have :
Post-Secondary training and/or experience as an Educational Assistant

Knowledge and experience working with expressive and receptive language development skills

Knowledge and experience with behavioral strategies

Experience working one-on-one and/or in a classroom setting

Knowledge of documentation procedures and proficiency with computers

Familiarity with strategies to address different learning styles and experience with Individual Program Plans

Training and skills that would be an asset include:
Literacy and numeracy

Previous experience with Early Childhood

Relative experience in educational assistance and/or rehabilitation

SIVA and/or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training
