Your opportunity:

As Stores Technician IV, you will play a critical role in performing complex inventory management, warehouse and store planning duties. Your exceptional customer service skills and your proven ability to build rapport and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Harnessing your strong organizational and leadership skills, you will provide leadership, direction, and workflow oversight to a group of Stores Technicians.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing shipping and receiving for the Temerty Faculty of Medicine; contacts suppliers directly and reorders stock items; consults with research and laboratory staff about supply needs; consults with sales representatives to obtain competitive pricing and quality product; sources product; makes purchasing decisions
  • Leads and leads and directs Stores Technicians I and/or II and/or III leads processes and employees in regards to scheduling, prioritizing, guiding workflow, training, delegating and resolving problems both internally and with customers and suppliers
  • Advises customers, stores technicians and others about material and equipment in stores area; such as product pricing, availability, safety data
  • Maintains and upkeep’s computerized inventory system
  • Deals with product problems and returns; resolves problems with materials, quality issues, process issues.


Essential Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent, related post secondary education is preferred
  • Three years of related experience, logistics or warehousing is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to lead processes and train employees; ability to lead, tact in dealing with people
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience leading warehousing practices and protocols.
  • Strong Computer Skills with proficiency in MS Office (Excel and Word), operate computerized inventory system (e.g. Enable) is a strong asset
  • Possession of valid provincial class “G” driver’s license, forklift certificate (may require provincial class “D” driver’s license)
  • Physical ability to perform required duties including heavy lifting
  • General product knowledge: familiarity with units of measure
  • Knowledge of procedures for handling of dangerous goods
  • Knowledge of warehousing equipment and processes
  • Proven ability to learn campus lay out and delivery points
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English (oral and written)
  • Ability to work independently with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to use discretion and sound judgement while dealing with confidential material
