Duties
The student is expected to be involved in data compilation and quality control, as well as statistical analyses of data (including coding), and preparation of manuscripts.
Work environment
The selected student will analyze scientific data pertaining to genetic material in avian feces to determine if different dietary items are equally detectable using molecular techniques.

Information on language requirements
The student must be currently enrolled or able to enroll in a Master’s Program in the Department of Biology at the University of Saskatchewan, by 16-April, 2021.
The Principal Investigator for this project has Adjunct Status in the Department of Biology, at the University of Saskatchewan, and this location provides access to key resources, including physical copies of data sheets.
Degree equivalency
A strong background in biology and courses in Wildlife Conservation and Management, Statistical Foundations, Experimental Analysis, Advanced Linear Modeling, and Molecular Diagnostics are required (completed or in progress) and some prior research experience, including development of statistical models and molecular diagnostic protocols, is highly desirable. The student will also have knowledge related to University Teaching (Teaching Preparation, Graduate Professional Skills) and the ability to telework.
Demonstrated ability to write statistical code using R or similar software and to perform molecular diagnostic techniques such as DNA extraction, PCR amplification, and PCR assay design and optimization.
