Description
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes Salvation Army Toy Mountain which includes both the collection and distribution of toys and Christmas hampers. The Online Christmas Caseworker works directly with individuals and families (our neighbours) who are the recipients of toys and Christmas hampers. The Caseworker creates an invitational space that honours our neighbours by providing administration and coordination of the registration, processing, sorting, and distribution.
HOURS:
- Contract 2 positions: Duration of 10 weeks before 24th Dec 2021, 15hr/wk, remote work possibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create an online form with Ninja Forms and Mailchimp that can be accessed on our WordPress Website that allows families to register for the Christmas Toy campaign online
- Create scheduling for appointments integrating forms, database and caseworker schedules.
- Process the online applications through the Salvation Army database (Link2Feed)
- Evaluate and process applications for our Christmas program according to registration criteria
- Record all essential information into the Salvation Army database (Link2Feed)
- Assist with front desk operations when needed
- Assist in the maintenance of client files as directed
- Demonstrate empathy and concern for clients/families with empathy, respect, assertiveness and tact
- Be able to work in a busy environment in a team setting with a calm and positive attitude
- Ability to understand and be sensitive to cultural differences
- Maintains confidentiality and keeps accurate client files and statistical records
- Assists in the organization, set-up, maintenance and general cleanliness of the facility and/or Toy Shop & Warehouse
- Good public appearance and demeanor
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Perform other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Certifications:
- High School Education (an alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable)
Experience:
- Up to three (3) months of prior related experience, including experience working with multi-barriered neighbours
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Possess proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office, Ninja Forms, WordPress, and Mailchimp
- Demonstrate empathy and concern for clients/families with empathy, respect, assertiveness and tact
- Be able to work in a busy environment in a team setting with a calm and positive attitude
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Be able to lift up to 30 lbs
- Due to the funding requirements of Canada Summer Jobs, to be eligible, the applicant must:
- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and, have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
