Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:
- extensive academic training, professional preparation and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment
- knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education’s current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment
- academic training in Physical Education
- demonstrated thorough and extensive knowledge of, and successful teaching experience in Physical Education
- demonstrated experience in teaching English at the secondary level
- demonstrated experience in teaching Social Studies at the secondary level
- demonstrated experience and commitment to leading school-wide athletic events with student leaders
- demonstrated ability to be goal-oriented and results focused and to meet goals set by the physical education and athletics departments
- demonstrated ability to suitably employ a variety of instructional strategies, including regular formative assessment, to achieve the desired learning outcomes in physical education
- demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues both verbally and in writing
- demonstrated ability to recognize and acknowledge individual student differences in physical education and athletics and to adjust instructional practices accordingly
- demonstrated experience with the RTI framework to support student learning
- demonstrated ability to motivate and provide success for students who experience difficulties with physical education
- proven commitment to improving the health and fitness of young people
- demonstrated knowledge and understanding of adolescent development
- demonstrated commitment to building positive relationships with adolescents in a school setting
- demonstrated commitment to use technology for teaching and to communicate consistently and effectively with parents and students
- demonstrated use of highly successful instructional strategies in the classroom that support personalized learning
- demonstrated commitment to and engagement in lifelong professional and personal learning
- commitment to working with parents as partners in student success
