Position: Produce Merchandiser and Sales Clerk

Location: Toronto, Ontario
Raise the Root Organic Market is a neighbourhood grocer in Leslieville, Toronto. We’re focused on local, organic produce and grocery. The store’s concept is to have the variety of a grocery store with a farmer’s market feel. We have a steady flow of farmers, foragers and local entrepreneurs dropping off their delicious and nutritious goods. We’re passionate about food, the environment and having fun! The organization consists of hardworking, motivated and fun loving people who are focused on providing a friendly and unique market-like experience to our customers (a.k.a. neighbours).
In the role of the Produce Merchandiser and Sales Clerk, you would be responsible for:
- delivering friendly, prompt customer service
- building and filling displays
- cleaning and culling produce
- operating pos terminal
- receiving and putting away orders
- ensuring produce meets standards of quality and care
- informing customers about specials
Qualifications:
- customer service experience
- able to work a variety of shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends
- produce experience is a strongly desired asset
- ability to lift ~40lbs, bend, and stand on your feet for several hours

We’re looking for one part time employee to add to our store. Ideally, we would like a year commitment from the candidate. The candidate must be available on weekends.
