About us:

The Enterprise Applications and Solutions Integration (EASI) department within the Chief Information Officer’s (CIO) Division is a central department responsible for all matters pertaining to the development, maintenance and effectiveness of the core administrative management and student systems at the U of T. Included within these responsibilities are all central SAP systems, such as Financial Services, Human Resources, Research Administration and Procurement; the central U of T Student System (ROSI); approximately 40 related vendor and specialized web applications, and Document Management applications.

Your opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager, User Experience & Process Design, or their designate, you will be part of a dynamic, collaborative and innovative team focused on delivering transformational technology solutions to the University.

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting and providing assistance to the User Experience & Process Design team in designing the User Experience (UX) and business processes for University technology systems that allow the institution to efficiently support business needs. You will support the establishment of current and future business requirements by assisting in gathering information from various business units related to processes. You will help to link these business processes to technical specifications by drafting basic process maps using the prevailing user experience methods.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Verifying the accuracy and completeness of design specification documents
  • Providing detailed information on user experience processes, policies, and procedures
  • Recording the results of user experience testing
  • Creating and maintaining procedures and guidelines
  • Applying established standards to a range of similar situations
  • Providing detailed explanations on guidelines and expectations to staff


Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum one (1) year of recent and related experience in the design of interactive web applications
  • Strong experience with current design practices (e.g. wireframing, prototyping, user story creation, accessibility, responsiveness) and tools (e.g. Figma, InVision, Axure, Balsamiq).
  • Familiarity with and understanding of user centered design methodologies.
  • Familiarity with current business process mapping practices and software, (e.g. Visio, Lucidchart).
  • Demonstrate success in coordinating user research activities, coordinating usability testing sessions, documenting heuristic evaluations of web sites and applications.
  • Working experience with HTML and CSS.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently.


Assets (Nonessential):

  • Experience working on User Experience teams an asset.
  • Working knowledge of student systems and higher education requirements and business processesare an asset.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 05 – $45,816 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $58,590. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
