Required
- Experience working with and leading volunteers
- Knowledge of current trends, resources and information related to volunteerism
- Ability to organize resources and prioritize tasks, take initiative and work with minimal supervision
- Excellent computer proficiency (Word, email and database systems)
- Ability to work quickly and independently on identified tasks and with minimal supervision
- Ability to gather data, to compile information, and prepare reports
- Strong interpersonal communication skills: both verbal and written
- Excellent interpersonal networking and rapport building skills with coworkers volunteers and community members
- Willingness to work with sensitivity within a diverse cultural and theological milieu
- Respect for and discretion in dealing with confidential material
- Relate well to people with a pleasant and professional demeanor

- Valid ‘G’ Ontario driver’s license
- Police vulnerable sector check (required upon hire)

Job Synopsis
This full-time salaried position will resource MCCO staff who work with volunteers in our thrift shops, program areas and other departments. While this role may involve some direct work with volunteers, the majority of the focus will be on helping staff effectively manage their volunteers through resourcing, support and training. Additionally, this role will provide some support and resourcing for MCCO’s international service worker recruitment.
The Volunteer Services Manager will work closely with the MCCO Thrift General Managers, Program Coordinators and others to build a volunteer management program that balances the unique needs of each shop and program with providing a consistent volunteer experience for volunteers wherever they may be in MCCO.
International service workers volunteer to serve with MCC around the world in a variety of roles and contexts. The Volunteer Services Manager works closely with the other MCCO staff to increase the effectiveness of our International recruitment especially by leveraging the SALT and Summerbridge programs.
MCC Ontario has 6 vibrant and growing Thrift Shops that provide of a significant portion of MCCO’s annual revenue. These shops sell donated items and are managed at the local level through a management team consisting of management staff and volunteer committee members. Volunteers are essential to the running of the shops. MCCC Ontario also has 6 program areas that work ability to do our work, and our volunteer roster is large
.MCC is a charitable organization that partners with churches and community organizations worldwide to walk with people who are disadvantaged. MCC supports activities that provide emergency assistance, reduce poverty, and promote healthy communities, sustainable living and alternatives to violence. As an internationally recognized NGO, MCC currently serves in 57 countries with 716 partners, 1133 staff and 40,000 volunteers.

Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Management
- Ensure MCCO’s volunteer purpose statement is consistently reflected across all volunteer programming.
- Facilitate a network of staff who lead volunteers, providing coaching, training, resources, and support Ensure that volunteers receive the appropriate level of supervision
- Develop, administer, and review policies and procedures which guide the volunteer programs and services, and reflect the overall values of the organization
- Administer Volgistics database and provide user support to staff as needed
- Ensures compliance of volunteer files, onboarding information, documentation, and annual requirements.
- Prepare, analyze and maintain MCCO volunteer reports and statistics.
- Monitor and analyze volunteer trends to identify gaps and opportunities in our volunteer program
- Collaborate with Communications to provide appropriate volunteer communication pieces across the volunteer lifecycle
- Provide volunteer management resourcing for staff with volunteers including:
o Volunteer appreciation and recognition
o Recruitment resources
o Retention support
International Service Worker Recruitment
- Collaborate with Communications to develop resources to highlight International service opportunities when needed
- Connect with broader MCC system on recruitment as appropriate
- Collaborate with Director of HR on MCCO recruitment strategy
- Lead SALT and Summerbridge recruitment strategy
Other
- Perform other job related duties as assigned
- Participate in MCCO orientations, provincial meetings, Peace Conference and Staff Development Day
- Participate in a local faith community, being willing to use personal gifts within this community and model nonviolent peacemaking through respectful interaction with others
- Maintain a high level of integrity, reflecting Christian respect and Christ’s unconditional love to those with whom you work, including colleagues, partner agencies, the homeless and marginalized
- Answer inquiries about MCC from constituency and general public; communicate MCC’s values, articulating the importance of MCC’s criteria for workers, all of whom serve as representatives of the Mennonite and Be in Christ churches which support MCC
