Working Conditions:
- Schedule may vary according to requirements of responsibilities.
- Ability to lift/move up to 40 lbs.
- Some travel required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drive the ministry unit’s commercial vehicle as well as van. Conduct daily walkaround of vehicles.
- Utilize the warehouse Lift Tow (electric) to organize skids (removing and adding skids to upper shelving).
- Ensure the safe and careful handling of all deliveries and donations, while protecting property, including donations and vehicles.
- Take responsibility for daily and overall safety, maintenance, operation of vehicle, and records of the vehicles (16-foot truck, van and small car).
- Provide donors with courteous and diplomatic service.
- Maintain knowledge of legislative and company policies such as Health and Safety Regulations, Provincial and Municipal Highway Traffic Acts; perform circle checks of the vehicle and maintain vehicle logs.
- Report any vehicle mechanical failures or concerns to the Community Ministry Coordinator in a timely manner.
- Load and unload goods at the SA and other destinations where required. Place merchandise in designated areas within the warehouse (backend of building) by the end of each shift.
- Record drop-off and pickups at the Family Services location.
- Assist with the placement and relocation of large, donated items in the warehouse when necessary.
- Load and transport waste from the family services to the landfill as required, and unload at the landfill.
- Assist with the general upkeep and cleanliness of the property such as keeping sidewalks clear of snow and ice, picking up litter, emptying garbage cans (garbage to be emptied daily), cardboard disposal, floor mopping (immediate cleaning of any spillage) and window cleaning as required.
- Clean bins as required and sort food items into boxes.
- Daily Lockup Check of all vehicles and warehouse doors.
- Seasonal assistance with Christmas hampers, toys etc. is required
Health and Safety
- Maintain knowledge of legislative and company policies such as Health & Safety Regulations, provincial and municipal highway traffic acts.
- Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure the safe and careful handling and pickup of all deliveries, donations etc. while protecting the property, including donations and vehicles.
- Responsible for the following, work in compliance with the Ontario Health & Safety Act and Regulations, use personal prescribed safety equipment and clothing as directed by the employer, report workplace hazards, dangers, injuries or illness, work in a manner as required by the employer, and report workplace injuries or illness.
- Report any safety issues immediately and ensure care is taken with all equipment and property.
- Represent the organization in a professional and engaging manner
Ability to work independently
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Completion of secondary school, plus some specialized courses of up to six months.
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License, drivers abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion. Secured either through the National Canadian Police Information Centre or through local police department.
- Must provide an original copy of Background Check with vulnerable sexto screening that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretions, is required. The screening is

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:
- Certification to operate a forklift and ability to manage large containers with the forklift
- Must have one year of prior experience driving a commercial vehicle
- Develop and understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities
