The Salvation Army’s Southview Heights and Terrace is a Senior Residence located in South Vancouver. We are looking for a temporary Support Services Supervisor to work in a warm and loving environment.
This position oversees support services at Southview Heights and Terrace, ensuring cleanliness and smooth operations of the Environmental Services Department.
This position is also responsible for scheduling and maintaining payroll worksheets and statistics for all union staff at Southview Heights and Terrace.
Hours:
- Temporary Full-Time (40 hours weekly)
- Monday – Friday: 7:30am – 4:00pm
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directly supervising Laundry/Housekeeping, Janitor/Security and Janitor/Grounds keeping staff under the direction of the Operations & Business Manager
- Coaching and supervising staff daily
- Assist Operations Manager in preparing staff performance reviews as requested
- Keeping track of inventory for Support Services and informing Food Services Manager of needed supplies in time for ordering.
- Filing documents
- Prepares and maintains schedules for all union employees
- Prepares timesheets, maintains and approves hours in TSA payroll software for all departments.
- Maintains employees’ statistics for all departments.
- Processes all applications for vacation, leaves and shift exchange forms for all union employees
- Assist in organizing events and key activities
- Maintains a checklist for all Southview suites requiring service and during suite turnover
- Provide backup to the Administration Assistant as required
- Assure that Infection Control Procedures are applied when required
- Ensure all WHMIS standards are met and kept up-to-date
- Perform other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma
- Successful completion of Microsoft Office Certificate
- 3 years supervising Environment staff
- Completion of a Business Administration post-secondary program or equivalent experience
- Successful completion of a Payroll Management Program or equivalent experience
- WHIMS certificate
Experience:
- Minimum five years’ experience in laundry/housekeeping service preferably in the service industry
- 3 years supervisory experience with environmental staff
- 2 years of payroll experience

- Attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills.
- Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility.
- Excellent oral and communication in English
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to read and implement work routines
- A heart and disposition for working with seniors
