Description
The Christmas Assistance Coordinator registers families who are seeking aid and assistance from or have been referred to, The Salvation Army Christmas Hamper Program as well as works with businesses and individuals looking to Adopt a Family. They also help in the putting together and handing out of all the Christmas Hampers.
HOURS:
- 40 hours per week with a fluctuating schedule-flexibility will be required
- October 1, 2021– December 24, 2021
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Incumbent is responsible for the following range of job duties characteristic, or typical of the job class:
- To give assistance to the Christmas Hamper Program
- Evaluate and process applicants registering for Christmas Assistance
- Train, orientate, and work alongside a volunteer team
- Recording of essential information into The Salvation Army’s database (Link2Feed)
- Collects, organizes, & prepares statistical and other program information
- Register and assign Sponsor Organizations, businesses, and individuals
- May/assist with preparing information letter and wishlists for Sponsors
- Pick Up donations and run Errands as necessary
- Write up and send out Thank You Letters to donors
- Perform other Community Service duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Certifications:
- The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills, strong computer skills including Microsoft Office programs. Will also have completed High School, plus specialized courses of up to six (6) months.
- First aid/CPR
- Class 5 bc driver’s license or higher
- Clean drivers abstract
- A clear vulnerable sector screening
- Background check consent
- Completion of our online Armatus abuse training and required health and safety training
Experience:
- The successful candidate must have at least one year prior related experience, including life skills, computer competency, and leadership skills
Work Environment:
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Performance of the job requires a frequent amount of loading/unloading trucks, handing out hampers, receiving/sorting out donated or purchased goods, and computer work
- Performance of the job requires attentive listening (empathy to clients/volunteers), and attention to detail when entering data/computer work.
The incumbent could need to work under the following disagreeable conditions:
- Temperature variations
- Cramped working areas
- Work-related stress
- Dealing with angry and/or abusive clients
The incumbent could be exposed to the risk of minor harm, injury, or illness due to:
- Physical and verbal attacks by others
- Exposure to infectious diseases
- Exposure to chemicals (e.g. cleaning)
- Moving objects
- Sharp objects
- Risk of back strain
