Description
Community Services Worker B assists individuals and families who are seeking aid and assistance from or have been referred to, The Salvation Army.
HOURS:
- Varies
- Up to 37.5 25 hours a week (Monday – Friday) as instructed by supervisor
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts intake assessments determining immediate needs and supports needed by the client.
- Maintains confidentiality and keeps accurate client files and statistical records.
- Assist in the organization, maintenance, and general cleanliness of the food bank/family services area.
- Receives (and/or declines) and sorts/organizes non-monetary donations.
- Networks and refers to The Salvation Army, government, and community social service providers to coordinate resources for the benefit of clients and programs, when necessary.
- May direct and supervise volunteers on a project
- May organize seasonal or special programs (i.e., Christmas hampers, toy distribution, food drives, summer camps, community dinners, a specific program run by Next Steps)
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team setting with minimum supervision.
- Ability to relate in a warm personal manner to clients, staff, volunteers, and the public.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must work within the mission and guidelines of the salvation army policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Certifications:
- Completion of High School.
Experience:
- One year but less than three years of prior related experience, including working with multi-barrier persons.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Current certificate in First Aid/CPR.
- Current Driver’s License with clean Driver’s Abstract.
- Proficient Computer Skills.
- Clean Criminal Check.
Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:
- Background check consent.
- A clear vulnerable sector screening.
- Clean drivers abstract.
- Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training.
