Director, Global Talent Development

Position Summary:

WSP is currently looking for a Director, Global Talent Development. This role will be responsible for leading the efforts to build and scale global talent development strategies and initiatives, including the design, development, implementation, and outcome-based evaluation of solutions, programs, and initiatives. This position requires strong collaboration and communication skills, as well as the ability to influence and develop productive partnerships to increase performance capability and organizational effectiveness.

As a Director, this position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does have significant accountability regarding human capital and strategic organizational initiatives on a global scale.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
Incorporate a global perspective within all aspects of the WSP Talent Development ecosystem – including career management, succession planning and talent reviews, leadership and personal skills development, competency-based initiatives, and performance management.

Apply strategic talent development solutions to continuously improve employee engagement, retention, assessment, motivation, and career/professional growth of staff, management, and emerging leaders.

Provide professional expertise and support required for talent review and succession planning processes with a focus on senior level succession, high potential identification, diversity and inclusion, and the formalized documentation of the leadership bench and pipeline of top talent.

Recommend development practices to accelerate successor readiness and retention, including identifying and/or conducting individual assessments, leveraging the firm’s career development resources, and/or determining relevant assignments or experiential learning opportunities.

Leverage WSP competency frameworks, guiding principles, and career architecture to deliver on a robust and future-ready learning and development agenda that is aligned with business needs and gaps in employee performance.

Lead broad organizational projects across multiple regions and business segments to improve overall leadership skills, act as a catalyst for building organizational capability and effectiveness, and drive a high-performance culture that enables enterprise transformation with people practices (particularly in the M&A environment).

Coordinates organization-wide efforts to ensure that Talent Development programs and initiatives are standardized and managed using a data-driven focus that sets priorities for design and measurement for ROI evaluation.

Shape organizational people strategies by working with regional HR leadership to facilitate and drive employee engagement surveys, and tracking and monitoring the results against action plans.

Focus on establishing consistent enterprise change methodologies, practices, tools, and networks to build both organizational and leader change capability.

Assess and transform performance management processes and systems that drive high performance and engagement throughout the organization.

Apply systems models, diagnostics, and data to analyze organizational scenarios and provide solutions.

Work across HR, with other HR Centers of Excellence, and business leadership to understand skill gap analysis for workforce planning, forecasting future needs, and adapting strategy and/or tactics accordingly.

Responsible for designing, developing, and implementing a comprehensive communications plan to promote and apprise managers and employees of the WSP’s talent development philosophy, programs, and initiatives.

Meet regularly with third party vendors (as necessary) to ensure service levels are being met and issues are being handled based on contract terms.

Partner with the HRMS teams to design and develop functional reports and metrics that can analyze information to drive performance, identify trends, and develop/implement functional improvements, escalating issues and proposed solutions as appropriate.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; graduate or post-graduate degree in I/O Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Organizational Development, Leadership or related field is highly preferred.

12+ years of relevant and recent experience in talent/organizational development.

Applicable certification(s) desired (e.g. CPTD, SHRM-SCP, SPHR/GPHR, CLP).

Bilingual in English/French is a requirement.

Experience leading complex Organizational/Leadership Development and Change Management activities.

Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with senior leaders, and the global WSP HR community and peers to produce results.

A strong ability to quickly grasp the business objectives and strategies of a complex multi-national organization and how human resources and talent development initiatives can support the achievement of those objectives.

Tactical lateral thinking and strong analytical skills with attention to detail and prioritization of responsibilities in a pressure work environment.

Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.

A track record of positive results and an ability to show how talent development programs and initiatives have contributed to the growth and bottom line profitability of an organization while affecting cultural change and fostering employee engagement.

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft office, Software-as-a-Service (e.g. Mentorcliq), ERP (e.g. Oracle), technology, spreadsheets, data analysis, and tools.

Strong ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to a variety of schedules and hours to meet business needs.

Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
