Position Purpose Summary:
The Kettle Coordinator ensures the smooth running of the Kettle Campaign, maximizing donations and coordinating volunteers. A Kettle Coordinator recruits, trains, schedules, and monitors the work of volunteer bell ringers ensuring ample staff to meet location needs.
This is a temporary full time position at up to 40 hours per week, with a flexible schedule.
Term dates: November 1, 2021 to January 14, 2022.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recruit, train, direct and work alongside volunteers
- Schedule volunteers, ensuring all kettle locations are covered daily
- Fosters and maintains positive working relationships with kettle sites, addressing issues as they arise
- Coordinate the schedule for kettle volunteers and respond to emergency absences, etc.
- Stand on kettles as vacant spaces dictate
- Expected to work in cooperation with the Divisional Public Relations Department
- Keep accurate records of volunteer information, using the Kettle Program
- Ensure kettle locations are kept well-stocked with supplies (i.e. sign in sheets, PPE, cleaning supplies, etc.)
- Contact churches, businesses, and other organizations to fill volunteer spots on kettles
- Coordinate the delivery and pick-up kettles to/from sites daily, ensuring the security of donations.
- Some involvement in counting and depositing of kettle monies
- Coordinate retrieval of all equipment from kettle locations at conclusion of campaign
- Prepare brief for future kettle coordinators at the conclusion of the campaign
- Work with Officer(s) to ensure recognition given to volunteers at conclusion of campaign
- Represent The Salvation Army in a positive, professional manner
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
*NOTE: You may be required to provide validated educational documentation.
Education/Certifications:
- Completed High School or equivalent.
- Valid Saskatchewan Driver’s license (if personal vehicle is used, mileage will be reimbursed)
- Criminal Police Check.
Experience:
- More than three months but less than one year of prior related experience.
- Experience in office administration.
- Experience with general office equipment and a proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work well in a fast-paced office setting.
- Understanding and support of the Mission of The Salvation Army.
Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:
- This position requires the successful candidate to have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable drivers abstract. The successful candidate would have to provide proof upon being hired.
